First Morning in Cerritos

Waking up in paradise felt surreal.

I thought I would be filled with excitement, but instead I felt something completely unexpected—a surprising sense of calm.

Maybe I was a beach bum in a past life or maybe I just finally found my natural habitat.

I had imagined our first morning would be packed with plans and excitement. Instead, I found myself sitting quietly with a cup of coffee, listening to the waves rolling in and eating cheesecake for breakfast.

Some people meditate. Apparently I eat cheesecake, drink coffee, and stare at the ocean.

In that moment, I didn't need to rush.

There was nothing I had to prove.

Nothing I had to accomplish.

Sitting there, I realized I'd been looking for this feeling for a long time.

Maybe this is what quiet feels like.

Maybe this summer isn't about doing more... Maybe it's about having more peace and enjoying the cheesecake.

What surprised me most...

That the hardest part wasn't getting here. It was giving myself permission to.

What I'll remember...

Watching pelicans work harder than I planned to all day.

Today's highlight...

Cheesecake for breakfast without a single ounce of guilt.

If this is what day one feels like... We're in trouble.
