The Journey Begins
Updated: Aug 5

Every adventure begins with a decision — Ours began long before we reached the airport
Who would have thought that booking an Airbnb in the spring would lead us to
spending three and a half months dog-sitting on a beach in Mexico?
To be fair, when I clicked "Book Now," I wasn't expecting it to become this big of a decision.
Honestly, it felt like the universe decided to throw us a curveball.

If you ever want to know exactly how much stuff two adults can convince themselves is "absolutely necessary"... this is it.
Can we really do this?
Should we?
What will everyone think?
After more than a few long conversations, plenty of anxiety on my part, support from
our family.... and yes, a few exaggerated eye rolls lol — we decided to take the leap.

Looking out of the window, it finally started to sink in.
We weren't just taking a vacation.
Although my suitcase definitely thought we were.
We had chosen a completely different way of living for an entire summer.
I couldn't stop wondering what the next three and a half months were going to look like.

The moment the airplane door opened, it felt different.
Instantly, my hair accepted the humidity — Clint did not.
The warm air. The smell of the ocean. The desert landscape.
It somehow felt like we'd stepped into another world...even tho we've spent time here before.
Suddenly, this wasn't just an idea anymore.
There was no "undo" button now... and I didn't want one.
WE WERE HERE!
What surprised me most...
How excitement and fear can exist at exactly the same time.
I’d never experienced both emotions so intensely before. Looking back, I realize that
wasn’t a sign we were making the wrong decision — It was a sign we were stepping out of our comfort zone.
What I'll remember...
Watching Alberta disappear beneath the clouds & realizing there was no turning back.
Today's highlight...
Knowing that our family fully supported our decision.
After months of wondering, “Can we really do this?” there was finally nothing left to plan.
Note to future self: Say yes more often. Panic later.
